One of the most high profile and fun project during my stint in Craft Bamboo Racing, working together with Pixer Shanghai to recreate the character Lightning Mcqueen and Jackson Storm from Cars 3. The base car is the Ligier JS P3, a hugely complicated bodyshape with many technical surfaces not conveyed well by 2D templates. With the very limited info we had, we made it work and even given them CARS style eyes when displayed in the paddock. When we are on track a smaller version of the eyes can be put in the sun visor, logistic means we had many of such pairs produces so the cars can be display in between different sessions.
We had access to a lot of the official art asset, but much of those has to be reworked into a format fit for livery use, the end result was very impressive for all the party concerned.
